The NBA Draft is Coming to Brooklyn!

The 2013 NBA Draft, which will be held on June 27th at 7 PM, is going to take place in the brand-new Barclays Center. The league announced the news today on its website. Tickets will go on sale on May 22nd.

Tickets are expected to be between $20 and $35 and can be purchased online at either www.barclayscenter.com or www.ticketmaster.com.

Barclays Center opened on September 28th, and has held several large events already. It has not even been a year since its opening and yet it will be holding the NBA Draft. Commissioner David Stern labelled Barclays Center has a "go-to destination for world class events".
"We are excited to be holding the NBA Draft in Brooklyn, a borough long associated with great basketball talent," said NBA Commissioner David Stern. "In addition to being a state-of-the-art arena, Barclays Center has quickly become a go-to destination for world class events. We are confident Barclays Center is an ideal venue for introducing the next generation of NBA stars to a global audience."
NBA fans can bet that Brett Yormark will do whatever he can to make it an extraordinary experience.
"Brooklyn has become a major NBA market and basketball fans throughout the borough will be excited to welcome the next class of outstanding talent into the league," Barclays Center and Brooklyn Nets CEO Brett Yormark said. "Many of the borough's greatest all-time players have been drafted into the NBA, making this night a perfect fit for Brooklyn. We are honored to host the 2013 NBA Draft as we continue to bring many of the most high-profile sports and entertainment events to Barclays Center."
This will make it the third consecutive year that the Nets home arena has hosted the NBA Draft. As of now, the team holds only the 22nd pick. Their second round pick was given to the Minnesota Timberwolves who received it from the then-New Orleans Hornets.
