Nets Down Miami in the Brooklyn Home Opener

It's game two of the regular season and the Nets matched up against the defending champion Miami Heat for the home-opener in Brooklyn. The intensity was as high as expected, especially with the rivalry between Paul Pierce and LeBron James. With Jason Kidd serving the last of his two game suspension, Joe Prunty took the reigns again as the Nets took down the Heat 101-100 in a nailbiter.

The first quarter was all Nets from the word go, as they outscored Miami 27-18 in the quarter. The Nets played solid defense the entire quarter, something we didn't see much in the loss against Cleveland. Brook Lopez was being fed the ball down low and the Nets held a huge advantage in points in the paint.

The second quarter, though, was all about Miami. They outscored the Nets 29-20 to tie the game at the half. Led by Chris Bosh's 11 halftime points, Miami cut a Nets 11 point lead to zero.

Coming out of the half, the Nets went berserk and came out firing. They outscored Miami 31-20 in the third quarter thanks to Paul Pierce's 11 third quarter points. The intensity level never fluctuated, in fact it increased during the second half. The fourth quarter was an all-out war, but the Nets were relentless and didn't allow Miami to make a comeback.

Paul Pierce led the Nets to victory with a 19 point, 5 rebound, and 6 assist game. Joe Johnson also added 19 points and Deron Williams put up just 8 points and 8 assists in 27 minutes. In his Nets debut, Andrei Kirilenko put up 8 points in just 12 minutes. LeBron James led the Heat with a line of 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists and Dwyane Wade added 21 points and 5 rebounds.
