Jason Kidd named Coach of the Month in March
For the month of March, Jason Kidd was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month. The Brooklyn Nets finished with a record of 12-4 during that span. Brooklyn won seven of eight games against teams with a .500 record or better during the month of March.
The Nets have made a turnaround behind Kidd's growth as a head coach. In a span of three months, Kidd has essentially taken the Nets from 10-21 to 39-33. Today, the Nets are fighting for home-court advantage in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, an unfathomable possibility early in the season. In November, Kidd was described as "the worst coach in the NBA" by ESPN.com's David Thorpe. Kidd also won Coach of the Month honors in January.
Kidd is just the second rookie coach to win two Coach of the Month awards in the same season. Chicago Bulls' head coach Tom Thibodeau was the first to achieve this feat in NBA history. No other coach in Nets' franchise history has won Coach of the Month honors in the same season.
Greg Popovich was named the Western Conference Coach of the Month along with Kidd.
